Tire Flips Because Why The Flip Not??? :)

Get ya some functional training today! Tire flipping is a functional movement because it requires you to utilize muscles from all over your body.

How to do this:

Engage your core, and lift with your legs. Core engagement is important so that you may protect your back from injury. Remember this as you push through with your core activated.

Yoga is on and off the mat.

My progress with yoga every day is on or off the matt.

Constantly letting go of my ego.

Do things for people because you want to, not because you have to. 

Constantly reminding myself not to let fear, or expectation get in the way of me being happy.

Constantly reminding myself that I am doing the best I can to work towards my goals and that I should not feel anxious as long as I am working towards them.  Little by little every day. As long as I am taking steps forward. It may seem like a lot to get where you want to go, but any little bit counts.

Don’t! Give up on your dreams!

ReUp on Training

I have not been doing any kind of strength training other than what comes with yoga. I do miss lifting at times as well as training in more traditional ways such as pull-ups, etc.

Today I went for a small walk and then did the following:

Deadlifts: 2 sets, bar only (45 lbs), 4
Push Press: 2 sets, 5 1/2 lbs weights, 4
1 Hand Stand Hold
1 Pull Up.

Hahah, gotta start from the bottom. Never feel ashamed of this either! Progress is a process!

I am hoping to do this at least once a week and build my lifting strength back a little bit. I usually don’t like to lift too much simply because I build quick, so I think once a week would be efficient for now!

Dessa meets with Michael Pollan. A discovery of sustainable food consumption on the road.

I was super excited to read this article by Upworthy, on Dessa (  female MC of the Doomtree crew of whom I look up to) and her meeting with Michael Pollen (author of The Omnivores Dilemma) about eating on the road. It is true, every time I travel I more so don’t want to simply because I have to lug along all my food with me. I believe eating is crucial to over all body performance, but also what you eat is if not more, equally importante. I love this article because its speaks of the importance of supporting local food growers (organic or not), and how that money gets cycled back into helping the community as it allows the grower to produce even more food, and more selling. A cycle worth existing and supporting. I also find the “psychology of food” very interesting as I believe how we perceive a food item has  a lot to do with our sensations and thoughts about it upon consuming it. Body, Mind, Spirit, and Soul. Non importance of the material body.

Went for a jog this morning, yaaay. I dont look very happy to be there but Ive been letting my body take breaks, gather thoughts, simply rest and chill. Learning a new pace is not always a bad thing. Am glad I did start my day off this way though, running round in nature.

The Bhagavad-Gita states

“The Lord said, “You are talking like a learned man, but you do not that one who is learned-one who knows what is body and what is soul- does not lament for any stage of the body, neither in living nor in dead condition.” …knowledge means to know matter and spirit and the controller of both….The body is born and is destined to be vanquished today or tomorrow; therefor the body is not as important as the soul. One who knows this is actually learned, and for him there is no cause for lamentation, regardless of the condition of the material body.”

I admit that I used to see my body as material and an image, I used to want to sculpt it and make it look a certain way- honestly now I think thats a headache sometimes and am far more concerned with my overall well being as matter and spirit and soul. As long as Im healthy thats all that matters to me! Being healthy requires not just your physical body but your heart and soul. Of course you should still treat your physical body well with good foods, exercise, etc. that is all part of the whole. I try and push myself a little but not as much as I used to- that goes for a lot of things- which is definitely a good thing because pushing too much can straight up lead to stress. A little is good, too much is no bueno and counterproductive to your health. I have amped up my meditating and creative self expression, giving instincts, and rest.

Too, when you feel good, you feel good enough to help others feel good. Self love and care always.

Didn’t look ver happy for my movement this morning, but I know it served me well. I am happier now, just takes shaking the sleep off. 😛
