Sweet Chariot Cover Song

Standard

This song popped into my head one day and I felt that there was something about it that touched me. From what I have read, it is a traditional African American Spiritual created during the time of the Underground Railroad. A song meant to aid slaves with hope to be free again if not in this time, then at least in heaven.

Original song by Wallace Willis in the 1800s. Excuse my beginner drumming and singing at the same time.

Perhaps this should go to all the modern day slaves. This song will live on forever as long as people struggle to be free.
